The reality today is that you must be a high school graduate in order to get a good job and in most cases, you have to take a copy of your diploma for the company to keep on file.
Life, as we know it today, will be getting more complicated without that diploma. How do you feel if you just got a Certificate of Completion? This is what happened to one of my relatives. When it was her day to graduate, she did not know she had failed Senior English. That Certificate of Completion (CoC) was what she received on her graduation day. Many years back, she was able to land a position as a pre-school assistant at a local elementary school.
Then the day came when, in order to move on up in the ranks with better pay, she was to present her diploma to have a copy kept on file. She panicked! Here she was in her 40’s. What was she to do?
She found out that she could earn her high school diploma quickly from home. This gave her that opportunity to move to a higher position with more pay. Each state sets its lam bang toeic own graduation requirements and determines what aspects of secondary school education the students need to satisfy requirements for a diploma.
Many states go by this agenda: If you hold a CoC, you do not qualify for the GED program because with a CoC, you are still classified as still being IN school. In order to be approved for a GED,you must prove that you are OUT of school. Honestly, this all sounds contradictory. Think of how you will feel, going for that job interview and you are asked for your credentials. WIll You be able to open your portfolio and pull out your diploma, your transcript and a contact where the company can get verification of your credentials?
